Aaron Rodgers Tuesday has become a staple on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’. This feature has become an unexpectedly insightful segment. Like clockwork, the veteran quarterback’s presence is accounted for every Tuesday. Following the Green Bay Packers’ victory over the Los Angeles Rams, Rodgers engaged with Pat McAfee and the show’s other hosts. Looking pleased with his team’s win, he dropped some nuggets of information while making comments about The Athletic’s controversial article.

Rodgers, who is no newcomer to criticism, did not hesitate to establish his rather candid thoughts about the article that was published. While doing so, the QB revealed some key information about backup quarterback Jordan Love that could affect how people perceive the Packers’ future. So, what did the veteran QB say?

Aaron Rodgers delegates the job of ‘quiz master’ to his backup

The Athletic published a story that spoke about Rodgers’ signal calls. It indicated that the QB used hand signals from the past that weren’t taught to the Packers‘ young receivers. It also elaborates on the fact that other players pass on the knowledge to young players and conduct quizzes with regard to the calls. Rodgers was quick to deny what the article stated and proceeded to label it the “dumbest article of the year by far” and “exaggerated nothingness”. Those are strong words from a QB whose wide receiver (Christian Watson) did not even glance at him when he threw the ball after giving a signal.

Rodgers added his side of what the ‘reality’ is. He said, “Jordan makes up a list of the signals that we’re going to have that week that are possible and then he calls, I’ve allowed him to do this I used to do this when I was a backup as well”. The QB stated that Love asked a couple of guys questions about the signals. The veteran also specified that the signals used in practice were the ones used on game day. McAfee then proceeded to state, “I was told that you were stubborn and arrogant and cocky and standoffish, you got Jordan Love leading these meetings like how come that didn’t show up in the article Jordan Love’s the one that is actually doing it.” Aaron Rodgers may have implied that the article by ‘The Athletic’ had no substance. So, why has their offense looked terrible all season if everything was supposedly smooth sailing?

Rodgers and the Packers have to work on more than just hand signals

Being on Rodgers‘ offense shouldn’t have to be as hard as the present scenario. The former MVP is revered by many in and outside the league. But the Packers’ offense has looked far from good this season. Their victory over the Rams perhaps saved them from plummeting to rock bottom.

A disharmonious offense, outbursts at coaches, and a slew of injuries all come together to make up Rodgers’ less-than-impressive season.  Furthermore, despite A-Rod’s delegation of ‘quizzing’ responsibilities, Jordan Love may finally be tired of warming the bench. The backup QB roused speculation of a potential trade from the Packers. Matt LaFleur’s squad has not lived up to what was expected of them this season. And Rodgers is not the only veteran QB in the league who is struggling to revive his glory days. There’s no doubt that whatever is in store for the Packers’ future is heavily reliant on the quarterback.
