The Rodgers to Jets speculation has had a new development that could lead to the notion happening for real.
Packers could trade Aaron Rodgers exclusively to AFC
Aaron Rodgers gave numerous indications that this was his final season in Green Bay. The quarterback has not stated where he will play next, but he is open to playing for a different organization. The Packers are also thinking about not trading A-Rod within the same conference, which would place him in the AFC.
More context: Aaron Rodgers doesn't have a no-trade clause in his contract. The #Packers don't need his direct permission to trade him, at least not contractually.

In an appearance on SportsCenter, Adam Schefter posited that the Packers’ front office might consider trading Rodgers to the AFC. Besides, since the quarterback’s agreement is without a no-trade clause, the franchise is under no legal obligation to pursue the quarterback’s approval.
It is yet to see how the scenario will play out.
