Aaron Rodgers gave a huge hint

Aaron Rodgers dropped a huge hint about his future in the NFL. Rodgers indicated during the post-game press conference following the loss to the Lions that he won’t hold the Packers hostage with the choice. He stated that free agency is still a ways off and that he might make a decision on his future by then.

“Yeah, I mean I’m not gonna hold them hostage. I understand, you know we’re still in January. March is free agency. So, just need some time to, like I said, get the emotion out of it. And then figure out what’s best,” Rodgers said, via NFL.com.

Rodgers has played for just one team in his whole career in the NFL so imagining him gearing up for another is unimaginable to some. But in modern times, it has happened. The most obvious example is Tom Brady, who joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after two decades with the New England Patriots. But could it also mean he may retire from the game as he is nearing 40. However, for that, the fans will have to wait for a while.

A stop-start season

The Packers went through a stop-start season in 2022. They started the season strongly but fell off towards the middle of it. They bounced back towards the end of the regular season to pick up some wins and set up a showdown clash with the Lions to decide their playoff fate.

The Packers needed to win their last regular season game to progress to the playoffs as the seventh NFC team. But the Lions were motivated to stop them due to a chip on their shoulder. And they did exactly that with a 20-16 win over their bitter division rivals and spoil their playoff chances. So that was the end of the season for the Packers.
