Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers has believed in QB Colin Kaepernick’s abilities. The reigning league MVP praised Kaepernick and believed his talents deserve a roster spot for the 2017 NFL campaign. Rodgers wasn’t the type of athlete afraid to speak his mind over the years. While talking to ESPN’s Mina Kimes in 2017, the former Super Bowl champion believed it will be ignorant to think it was not a consequence. He adds that while he will not kneel to show Kaepernick support, he believes Kaepernick was holding a ‘peaceful and respectful’ protest.

The 10-time Pro Bowler believed in 2017 that the protest was just a different battle. Rodgers saw it as a means to start a conversation. While talking with Kimes, he stated, “I think the best way I can say this is: I don’t understand what it’s like to be in that situation. What it is to be pulled over, or profiled, or any number of issues that have happened, that Colin was referencing—or any of my teammates have talked to me about.

Did Aaron Rodgers call out the injustice against Colin Kaepernick in 2017?

The protest by Kaepernick was against off-field issues and not against the NFL or the national anthem. The former Niners player opted out of his contract with the organization. But later wasn’t given an opportunity by any other franchise to play in the league. While many players including Rodgers were pointing to this fact, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell downplayed the idea.

Goodell was backing the decision from franchises to not sign Kaepernick while believing it was a tactical decision. The situation has not changed since 2017, as Kaepernick remains a free agent in 2022.

Due to a lot of changes in the modern world, Kaepernick’s second chance seems to be coming.
