In the 6th week of the NFL, there was a rather infamous highlight of veteran Tom Brady losing his cool on his offensive line. The 45-year-old quarterback was firing away at his teammates by screaming and yelling at them. It made the highlight for a poor Buccaneers team, which fell short to defeat the struggling Steelers. However, in a speech given by HC Todd Bowles, which was recently released, it seems like the HC does not completely agree with the method of communication taken by the quarterback.

The Buccaneers’ media team have just released the 4th episode of ‘In The Current’. The docuseries follow the turmoils of the team. And chronicles the work inside the facility. Since the release of the episode, one very special speech by head coach Todd Bowles has received a lot of attention. The speech acted as a call to arms for a team which looked down on its luck and was going nowhere. However, the motivational words of the coach also referred to the incident with Brady screaming at his O’ Line. “Accountability does not mean yelling,” explained Bowles. “It means talking to each other.”

Tom Brady held his offensive line accountable once

At the time, Brady and the Bucs were seriously under-firing and the whole offense was falling away. Any passing game failed to get underway until the late third quarter. Frustrations were only rising on the sideline. And after facing a lot of pressure, Brady was even sacked twice in the game. In a moment of sheer frustration, the 45-year-old gave a piece of his mind to the O’ Line, which had failed to protect the quarterback. But even after yelling and dropping f-bombs at his teammates, TB12 and the Bucs fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Following the incident, Brady accepted, looked back at his actions and realized that they did not help anyone. And now, even Todd Bowles has shared his opinion on the mistreatment of the team. The coach said, “It (accountability) means holding each other accountable for the job that you want to do. How good do you want to be?” According to the timing of the speech, it looks like it worked as the Bucs went on a two-game winning streak to rescue their season.
