The Kansas City Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals have developed a new rivalry. After losing to the Bengals in last year’s AFC championship game, the Chiefs were out for vengeance. But ahead of their face off, viral comments from the Cincinnati mayor set the NFL word ablaze. Aftab Pureval’s dig at Patrick Mahomes, alongside nicknaming Arrowhead stadium as ‘Burrowhead’ given Joe Burrow’s conquering of the Chiefs at their home stadium last year, fueled animosity. The mayor implied that Mahomes would have to take a paternity test to check if Joe Burrow was his father- a dig with regard to the QB’s losing record against Burrow. But Travis Kelce was not going to let those comments slide as he took the mic after the Chiefs trumped the Bengals this year. A fired-up Kelce said-

Later, in conversation with Jason Kelce on their podcast ‘New Heights’, the older Kelce admonished his younger brother when the latter called Pureval ‘mayor jabroni.’ He said, “Can we get over this? Let’s not keep harping on the mayor.”  As it turns out, despite his strong statements, the Chiefs TE had no idea about what a mayor’s role entailed.
