Lamar Jackson continues to make headlines as the quarterback hasn’t reached an agreement regarding his contract extension. After showcasing splendid gameplay against the Tom Brady-led side in Week 8, the Ravens passer indicated his desire to get the deal done in an iconic way.
The Ravens outlasted Tom Brady and the Buccaneers with a terrific win posting 27-22 on Thursday Night Football. This gave Jackson a lifetime opportunity to brag about defeating the GOAT in a regular season. At the same time, improving his season record to 5-3.

Despite showcasing his rushing skills and arm strength, the fans were thrilled to see Jackson holding the signboard and walking back to the visitor’s locker room. One of the fans from the crowd threw a board onto his path, who had just entered the tunnel. Jackson, being curious, took a moment to read the message that said, “Ravens Pay ’Em Now!” in bold letters.

The impressed passer, acknowledging the message, walked back to the entrance and held the board high for the fans. Later, he signed the poster and have it back to a lucky fan.
Well, this gesture definitely seems to have sent a clear message to the Ravens’ management. As they couldn’t wrap up the deal before Week 1. Per reports, Jackson, who is playing in his fifth year of a rookie deal, was offered a five-year extension worth $250 million with $133 million guaranteed. However, the quarterback didn’t seem to reach an agreement.
Other reports suggested that the Louisville product was offered somewhat between $160 million and $180 million. But this proposal also got rejected. Well, the intention is quite clear: Ravens won’t leave their asset.

Ravens GM Eric DeCosta clarified his intentions on this issue even before the season had begun. “Despite best efforts on both sides, we were unable to reach a contract extension with Lamar Jackson,” DeCosta said about the talks. “We greatly appreciate how he has handled this process, and we are excited about our team with Lamar leading the way. We will continue to work towards a long-term contract after the season,” he added.

The franchise will be forced to release Jackson next March if they don’t get the deal done. Otherwise, they will have to put him under the franchise tag. Well, the days are not far for the viewers to get more clarity on the issue.
