After losing their quarterback, the New York Jets are now seeking to rent another. With Aaron Rodgers out of the frame, the Minnesota Vikings are hoping to trade their QB Kirk Cousins to the Jets. Unlike baseball, rental players are rarely seen in football. When the players are nearer to their contract deadline, they are traded and rented by another franchise.

And Cousins is in line for the Jets. He is known to be a good quarterback with excellent arm strength and steadiness. On the contrary, he lacks the required throw power and is unable to handle pocket pressure well. As far as the speculations go, the Jets might need a steady veteran to win a Super Bowl. But the question is, can Kirk Cousins help the Jets win the Super Bowl?

Reports suggest that the Vikings are planning to trade Cousins if their season continues to go badly. According to ESPN, Cousins is a free agent and has no guaranteed amount on his contract after this season. Thus, he would undoubtedly be luckier to be rented by the Jets which is unlikely. But, it also depends on who the Vikings choose to trade Cousins with.

The Jets are still in need of a QB and might choose to give up a third-round pick and go with Kirk Cousins. However, Bart from ESPN said, “I mean listen, first of all, Kirk Cousin is a guy that used to just for leverage and shunned them. I think the Jets could still be a little angry about that. He’s an immobile quarterback. I think he can still be effective if they can pull it off. I think that’d be a great deal.

Bart also mentions that there are other better veteran players as well who are more likely to be chosen by the New York Jets. Not to mention, the Jets need a professional quarterback. They need a guy who understands the formula and a guy who’s mobile. And, Bart names the person who thinks is perfect.

Bart mentions that Ryan Tannehill is a mobile QB who can get on the run, a guy who has been successful, plays behind a great defense, and someone who beats Lamar Jackson in the playoffs. He believes that the Jets need a quarterback who can bring in some RPO stuff, think about the team’s run game, and is good at play action. Thus, Ryan Tannehill is someone who is very gettable for a much cheaper price.

Nevertheless, as of now, the Jets are planning to go with Zack Wilson and build him up. The team believes that they have a ‘championship-caliber defense’ and have superstars at various positions. Another analyst from ESPN stated that if Zack Wilson can’t handle it, the Jets would probably have to pivot. Not to mention, it takes some time to learn the offense for Kirk Cousins. “If Zack Wilson does not look viable where it’s worth it, Cousin’s salary this year is $10 million.
