O’Connell held various positions as an assistant coach in various teams. He was the Offensive Coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams team that lifted the Super Bowl last season. At the start of the 2022 season, he was appointed the head coach of the Vikings. And at the end of week nine, the Vikings are 7-1 in the league. They sit at to top of their division.
