After Taking His Spot at MET Gala, Patrick Mahomes’ Welcomes Tom Brady’s Ex Teammate to Defending Super Bowl Champs

Riding high on their Super Bowl LVII championship win, the Kansas City Chiefs have been working in the offseason to construct another Super Bowl-worthy roster. Their QB, Patrick Mahomes put on a show as he led his team to a comeback victory for his 2nd Super Bowl MVP. His performance was a testament to why he will be next in line as the game’s GOAT after Tom Brady. But that was not the only big moment for the QB.

Recently, he debuted at fashion’s most significant event, the MET Gala, along with his wife Brittany, as the next perfect NFL couple after Brady and his ex-wife Bundchen. Now, Mahomes gets ready to welcome another investment to the team’s roster, who played with Brady as his ex-teammate at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Mahomes and his wife hit a fashion touchdown at this year’s MET Gala, as the focus shifted to them after the recent divorce of Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen. While the Brazilian model walked the red carpet solo this year without Brady’s presence, Mahomes took up his spot with Brittany as the next perfect NFL couple. And now, the QB is gearing up to welcome a move made by the Chiefs that brings in an offensive tackle with prior experience on the field with the GOAT.

According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero, the Chiefs have gone forward to sign OT Donovan Smith from the Bucs. Smith played eight seasons with the Bucs and made 124 appearances altogether with them. The OT is signing a one-year deal worth up to $9 million with the Chiefs. The 29-year-old also played a pivotal role to help the Bucs lift the Super Bowl LV trophy against the Chiefs.

From protecting Brady, Smith is now going to be a vital element in protecting Mahomes on the field during plays. The Chiefs have been filling out holes on the roster in the offseason, as they eye another championship run.

Chiefs’ offseason rebuild is happening at a brisk pace

Coming out of their championship ring, the Chiefs kingdom has undergone a restructuring of the roster. The offseason saw them lose WR Juju Smith-Schuster, WR Mecole Hardman, and FB Michael Burton in a trade to other teams. Meanwhile, the team made their biggest signing in OT Jawaan Taylor. He signed a four-year $80 million deal with $60 million in guarantees with the Chiefs after four seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Now with also the addition of Smith to the roster, Patrick Mahomes can focus on making more impressive plays on the field.

As the developments continue, it seems like the strategy and game plan for the Chiefs is different from the one they followed in their last season’s Super Bowl victory. Fans will wait in anticipation to see whether Mahomes’ men repeat their magic again for another shot at the championship.
