You don’t see many players signing contract extensions this offseason due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic in the USA. However, Kansas City Chiefs managed to tie down Super Bowl LIV MVP, Patrick Mahomes, to a 10-year contract extension.
Mahomes, who still has two years left on his current deal, will be with the Chiefs till 2031, as per the terms of his new contract at least.

No rest days for Kansas City Chiefs’ star QB Patrick Mahomes
Despite signing such a historic deal, Pat ‘Showtime’ Mahomes wasted no time in taking a day off. The two-time Pro Bowl player trained with personal trainer Bob Stroupe on Tuesday.
Stroupe uploaded the following picture on his social media handle. Mahomes is seen grinding it out as he gears up for the 2020 season.

Mahomes was instrumental in last year’s run to the Super Bowl in Miami. The 2018 NFL MVP led the Chiefs to their first Super Bowl win in 50 years.
The Chiefs outplayed Kyle Shanahan’s San Francisco 49ers in Miami. They pulled off a stunning comeback in the fourth quarter of the game.
Mahomes got rewarded for his recent exploits with the bumper contract extension on Monday. As per reports, the deal is worth north of $450 million with added bonus-related guarantees attached to it.

If these reports are accurate, the ‘Pat Mahomes deal’ will be the biggest sporting contract of all time. The Texas-born QB reportedly stands to earn more than $500 million by 2031 if he fulfills various clauses in his contract.
Final Patrick Mahomes’ deal:
10-year extension worth up to $503 million.
It includes $477 in guarantee mechanisms and the ability for Mahomes to have outs if guarantee mechanisms aren’t exercised.

This also means that Mahomes will most likely spend the majority of his NFL career with the Chiefs, something similar to Tom Brady’s tenure with the Patriots.
