Patrick Mahomes and his highly anticipated documentary recently shared an update in the latest trailer. Netflix recently dropped the trailer for the documentary roughly a week ago. But since the release, the trailer has not seen the hype expected as Tom Brady and his movie saw months ago. The documentary will see the journey of Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins, and Marcus Mariota in 2022.

With the announcement of the documentary surrounding the three Quarterbacks, it will raise comparisons with the movie released earlier this year. Tom Brady starred in the movie released by Paramount Pictures, ’80 for Brady’. The movie, despite not faring well upon release, ignited far more sparks upon its announcement.

Patrick Mahomes docuseries announcement faces hiccup

The Netflix documentary, ‘Quarterback’ has racked up over 700k views in a week. Although an impressive number, it points to a slow start for the series. With Netflix and Mahomes hoping for far more hype after the trailer was dropped, it just has not turned out to be the case. Whereas Tom Brady and his movie have earned almost triple the views on YouTube. This will draw another comparison between the two QBs which will place Mahomes right in Brady’s shadow.

On Netflix’s YouTube channel, the trailer for the documentary currently sits at 735 thousand views since release on June 14. With the series set to release within 3 weeks, the response from the fans have been mixed towards it. Whereas Brady and his movies trailer has seen over 2.8 million views till date after being released last November. It is early days for Mahomes and the documentary, but the signs aren’t shining brightly in the face of yet another defeat to Tom Brady. As Mahomes will have to find solace in his shadows once again, if the hype fails to pickup.

Despite ’80 for Brady’ attracting a lukewarm and mediocre response upon release. Patrick Mahomes continues to draw comparisons to the Legendary Bucs QB. Even though Brady retired at the end of the 2022 season, he continues to be the marker for success. This has unfortunately meant, that Mahomes will always be put up against Brady, despite his success. This has continued to haunt him and follow him in other aspects of his game and life.

Tom Brady casts a heavy shadow on Mahomes

Mahomes is one of the best QB in the game at the moment. When Brady was playing, he would seldom be pitted against the Patriots legend in conversations about the best QB in the league. But it did not stop Mahomes from pushing on in his endeavors with the Chiefs. But every act he would do for his team, it’d be an automatic Brady check.

In the past couple of weeks, Mahomes agreed to restructure his contract with the Chiefs so that they could have a larger salary cap. It was a magnanimous decision, but one that was not unique. In fact, Brady restructured his mammoth $25 million contract to help out his team in their time of need. The comparison is not limited to off-field decisions, as Mahomes has the unenviable task of climbing the mountain of 7 Super Bowl wins set by Tom Brady. If he is, to ever come out of Brady’s shadow.

Whether Mahomes will ever come out of Brady’s shadow is yet to be seen. But one thing is clear, Tom Brady has set high standards for both on-field and off-field conduct, which will be daunting for everyone, Mahomes included.
