Patrick Mahomes is a man of habits. While his unfathomable arm strength continues baffling the avid NFL fan, Mahomes’ greatness is a product of the habits he has inculcated over the years. The foresight he shows on the field, making mind-boggling passes comes with an in-depth understanding of the schemes and hours of studying.

While speculations surrounding Mahomes and his massive contract continue doing the rounds, rarely does Mahomes himself respond. Additionally, seldom do we focus on the making of his mental fortitude. Despite those intricacies missing our eye test, Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid hasn’t and it is indeed a blueprint for young QBs to follow.

With Mahomes at the helm, the Kansas City Chiefs won their second Super Bowl championship in the last four years. And turns out no one is more appreciative of his contributions than the head coach Andy Reid.

During his recent appearance on the New Heights podcast, HC Andy Reid sat down with his tight end Travis Kelce and the Eagles star Jason Kelce. And as many would expect, Mahomes was a topic of discussion.

He’s got a good way about him, he was raised in a locker room so he’s got that feel yeah he’s a natural leader but he’s humble… he’s easy to coach” expressed Coach Reid.

However, it wasn’t just Mahomes’ attitude that led him to the pinnacle of the NFL world but rather the way in which he takes care of business.

He wants you to load him up and challenge him. He’s gonna work. He’s dedicated, you know, I mean, during the week, he’s not going out. He’s gonna stand and study and do his thing.” continued Andy Reid.

Reid went on to compare Mahomes to some of the other great players he has coached over the years including former Green Bay legend Brett Favre, Sterling Sharpe, and one of the best safeties in the history of the NFL, Brian Dawkins. But this wasn’t the first time that Mahomes has been pitted against the GOATs.

Patrick Mahomes: Destined for greatness

Not many would disagree with the fact that Patrick Mahomes is a first-ballot Hall of Famer. Over the years, Mahomes has certainly earned the respect of some of the greatest to ever lace on a pair of cleats, including legendary QB Peyton Manning.

The answer to that question is yes,” said Manning when asked if Mahomes had earned himself the gold jacket.

Even legends from other sports appreciate the grit of Patrick Mahomes, as NBA great Shaquille O’Neal once congratulated the young gun for sticking it up to Tom Brady and the Patriots.

This is what I like to see in championship games — the old versus the new. Is it gonna be the old guy to continue to dominate? Or will the young guy finally come in to say, ‘Hey, I know you’re Tom Brady but this is my time to shine?!’… at some point, the student must kill the master to become the master,” expressed a delighted Shaq.
