Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson made it to the Pro Football Focus “All Clutch Team.” It came as a shocker as the 24-year-old managed to beat Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes to make the list. Former NFL tight end Shannon Sharpe aired his views against the selection on Undisputed.

Analyst Argues Patrick Mahomes is more clutch than Deshaun Watson

First, Sharpe was all praise for Watson, but he added, “I’m not taking Deshaun Watson. I do not believe Deshaun Watson is more clutch than Patrick Mahomes boy.”

Sharpe went on to point out the Chiefs Quarterback’s performance in the NFL Divisional playoff game last season.

“In the Super Bowl, he was down 10 in the 4th quarter. 3 straight touchdowns. He’s been unbelievable. He’s showing you different sides. Because before, he really never scrambles. But then we saw the great run.”

He went on to ask Skip Bayless when was the last time he saw a quarterback scramble like that.

“Shrugging off defenders, rolling through, breaking tackles. They couldn’t get him down, he would not be denied. He didn’t do it all with his arm. He did some of it with his legs.”

However, Sharpe added that Mahomes may not be considered as a great clutch player he is consistently at his peak.

“The thing with Patrick Mahomes is that guess what. He very rarely finds himself in a situation where he needs to be clutch. Because he’s normally clutch throughout the entirety of the game and he doesn’t find himself in those predicaments. But when he does. He my buddy. He’s the best quarterback in football. He’s the best player in football. There’s no question about that.”

Houston Texans and San Francisco 49ers fans will certainly not debate that having witnessed it first hand. Sharpe summed up by reiterating, “I disagree with that. I think DeShaun Watson is unbelievable, but I do not believe he is more clutch than Patrick Mahomes.”

What is your take on the debate? Does Sharpe have a point or is Deshaun Watson better in clutch situations than Patrick Mahomes?
