When it comes to the NFL, the most recent squabble involves Deshaun Watson. The Cleveland Browns QB1 became a target after multiple individuals sued him over misconduct charges. However, he remains a part of the game. The partiality outraged some NFL analysts that, while Colin Kaepernick remains unemployed, Deshaun receives fully guaranteed contracts.

The situation enveloping Colin Kaepernick remains murky despite his attempts to get back into the NFL. Former 49ers QB1 rallied throughout the offseason for a contract. The Texans opened the trade window for other teams to swoop in for Deshaun. The QB got lucky after the Browns got him. But Kaepernick remaining a free agent brings a boulder of questions.

Deshaun Watson keeps his job, but Kap doesn’t?

During FOX Sports’ The Odd Couple Podcast, the hosts react to Cleveland Browns getting Deshaun Watson as their new QB. Co-host Chris Broussard opens up regarding the Watson situation. He does not see any logic for the Browns QB getting mighty money while Colin Kaepernick is still training rigorously and waiting for his moment.

Broussard mentions, “Deshaun Watson and others are rewarded with multi-million dollar contracts will be celebrated for what they do on the field despite their indiscretions (some of which are horrendous) and yet Colin Kaepernick who went to bat, who came to the defense of American citizens, peacefully... And he can’t get in the league?”

Even Rob Parker thinks it is strange that Kaepernick lost his professional life by taking a knee and cannot secure an NFL job. On the other hand, Watson receives a lucrative contract. Parker also names the situation “the biggest travesty in the history of sports.”

Are the doors closing for Colin Kaepernick?

Colin Kaepernick tried to get the attention of almost every franchise in dire need of a quarterback. Earlier this offseason, Kaepernick had many opportunities to claim not merely an NFL employment but a starting position. Various teams like the Carolina Panthers, Seattle Seahawks, and Houston Texans had a desperate need for a QB. Even the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were briefly in the market after Tom Brady’s short-lived retirement. Kap managed to get a workout with the Raiders. He could have been a perfect fit in the blend.

However, the time has flown by, and they settled every situation. The Panthers made headlines by acquiring Baker Mayfield. Seahawks will keep Drew Lock as their starter, despite competition from Geno Smith. After a strong rookie season, the Texans appear to have faith in Davis Mills. And Brady is back for another season. As a result, Colin Kaepernick will be without a rational shipping point in 2022.
