NFL Analyst Believes Dak Prescott will be the ‘Most Sought After’ Free Agent in History

The deadline for franchise players to ink long-term deals has officially passed. This spells trouble for the likes of Dak Prescott as the Dallas Cowboys chose not to extend his contract, leaving him ripe for the picking.
In light of this, NFL analysts like Colin Cowherd and Nick Wright believe that there will be a host of teams chasing after Prescott hoping to get him on board.
Wright told Cowherd, “Dak is going to get franchise tagged & I believe that will end up him playing for a different team in 2022. He will position himself to be the most sought after free agent in NFL History.”

He noted that Prescott took a massive gamble when he made around $2 million last year. If he rolls the dice again and sticks around for another year, he could have a lot of offers lining up by 2022.

Prescott is only 28-years old and is set to become a free agent, thus blowing the market wide open. Wright firmly believes that Prescott will play under a franchise tag until 2021 before he moves to free agency.

In addition, he criticized the Dallas Cowboys for dragging out the negotiations and forcing Prescott’s hand. As it turns out, Prescott sought a four-year deal. However, the Cowboys were looking for a five-year commitment.
Back in January, Prescott told USA Today, “Obviously, I want to win. I’m somebody that I’ve gambled on myself my whole life. That’s kind of what it is. I’ve been doubted and told people they’re wrong.

“When you’re playing out a situation, when you’re playing out a contract, there’s no different mindset than that.
“(The money) is the nature of our game and nature of our business. But they know that’s not my motives, that’s not what gets me going.”
