The usage of CBD is now legal within the NFLPA’s new players agreement act. As a result, companies like Boston Hemp Inc. are receiving orders related to CBD products from professional athletes. Recently, the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Antonio Brown seemed to have entered the Cannabis business.

Earlier the use of marijuana or CBD products was discouraged in professional sports. However, the recent amendments have led to a paradigm shift in society, and players are getting involved in consuming these products regularly.

Antonio Brown is not the first athlete to join the CBD business
Many professional players like Mike Tyson, and MMA superstar Nate Diaz have already plunged their roots in selling CBD products. On April 17th, Antonio Brown shared an Instagram story advertising his new Cannabis products. The products were exclusively tagged with Brown’s name on the label. CBD is used for an abundance of reasons, but athletes are most commonly using it as a natural alternative for pain relief due to its theorized anti-inflammatory properties.

A few months before Brown made a shocking exit from the field, he was allegedly suffering from an ankle injury. He claimed that the medical staff injected him with painkillers to get back to the field. If this happens to be true, could there be a better natural solution to avoid such drastic measures? Well, many athletes find Cannabis products as an alternative measure to such problems.

The boxer who was christened, “The Baddest man on the planet,” Mike Tyson, started his Cannabis business in 2016. A few months ago, he launched a weed edible in the shape of a bitten ear hunting at a famous fight that Mike Tyson had with Evander Holyfield in 1997. The match had an abrupt ending, with Tyson biting Holyfield’s ears.

Twenty-five years down the line, Tyson invoked the same savagery by releasing Mike Bites, the cannabis-infused gummies shaped like a human ear, with its tip chopped off. Similarly, the MMA superstar Nate Diaz owns a CBD company. It boasts of producing a variety of top-quality CBD products, including CBD oil, hemp flower, and CBD pre-rolls.

Former NFL players who have gotten into the Cannabis game
Even before NFLPA indulged in league-supported research, some retired football players founded companies selling CBD products. Tiki Barber, who played as a running back for the New York Giants till 2007, co-founded a Vancouver-based investment firm Grove Group Management in 2018. “The more quickly we can get cannabis legalized federally, the better off athletes will be,” Barber told in a CNN business interview.

In 2016, Eugene Monroe became the first-ever active NFL player to publicly share his marijuana consumption. Later, the Baltimore Ravens terminated his contract. Today, he is working as a Diversity Consultant for Green Thumb Industries.

Other players like Joe Montana, Marvin Washington, and Ricky Williams are involved in this business. Today, Brown has also marked his presence in this legally emerging industry. The only difference is that other athletes ventured into this avenue after retiring from the game, while Brown got the opportunity to already started it.
