It is said that aim for the stars so one at least hits the moon and a New York Giants QB is a great example of just that. The young man aspired to get around $45 million from the franchise on the contract extension. While he may not have gotten the exact amount, he has certainly hit a jackpot with the Giants.

Daniel Jones played reasonably well for his team last season. But his latest contract news enraged most of the NFL fans.

“QB Contract Market Is Gonna Be Broken”: Amidst Daniel Jones’ Sparkling New $45M Contract, NFL World Panics While Guessing How Much Joe Burrow’s New Contract Will Be Worth

The Giants QB wanted a contract in the region of what Patrick Mahomes has. The Super Bowl champion signed a 10-year deal with the Kansas City Chiefs worth $450 million back in 2020. But does Jones’ performance warrant that kind of treatment?

A performance worth the contract?

Daniel Jones had a decent 2022 season with the Giants. He led the team to the postseason with a 9-7-1 overall record. And he even won a playoff game while he was at it against the NFC North champions, the Minnesota Vikings. The Giants lost the divisional round to the eventual NFC champions, the Philadelphia Eagles but Jones did win the fans’ hearts with his performance in the year.

No doubt the team did well, but Jones’ individual numbers are just decent. He threw 3,205 passing yards in the regular season with just 15 touchdown passes. Not the numbers one would expect from an elite QB.

Will a huge contract get a bump in Jones’ performance next season? Or will it backfire on the Giants? Only time will tell.
