“At This Point in My Life…”: Josh Allen Dishes Honest Thoughts on His NFL Career Months After Rival QB Patrick Mahomes Bags Second Super Bowl Win

Despite being drafted one year apart, Josh Allen and Patrick Mahomes seem to be destined rivals. Both Allen and Mahomes faced a ton of scrutiny coming into the NFL but soon established themselves as two of the best QBs in the entire league. The two have met each other a number of times with Allen representing Buffalo Bills while Mahomes dons the Kansas uniform proudly. After the Chiefs QB won his second title earlier, Allen’s recent statement tells a lot about his present state of mind.

While their rivalry still holds strong, their career trajectories have gone separate ways. Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes continues adding to his trophy case, while Josh Allen is still chasing the elusive Super Bowl ring.

Josh Allen seems focussed

Up until this point in his career, Josh Allen is a 2x Pro Bowler who was touted in both of his previous seasons to win the MVP trophy. While Allen has not been able to achieve the single greatest individual award, his performances have been nothing shy of extraordinary.

Just in his last two seasons with the Bills, Allen had 84 total touchdowns combined. Despite his numbers being high, Allen is aware of the flaws in his game and intends to rectify them going into the next season.

I do want to be the smartest quarterback with the football in my hands, I don’t want to put the football in harm’s way because I know how detrimental that is to our team with the interceptions and the fumbles.

Additionally, Allen has shifted his undivided attention to football and football only.

Despite the season being a topsy-turvy ride, Allen led the Buffalo Bills to another AFC East championship and earned the second seed in the conference. The team eventually lost to the Cincinnati Bengals in the divisional round of the playoffs and that was it for another Josh Allen season.

However, Allen’s recent comments give off the impression that he is completely locked in and gearing up for the future.

The last time a quarterback rivalry was as well renowned, was between Tom Brady and Peyton Manning in the 2000s. While both Mahomes and Allen fit the mold, the two young superstars still have a lot of work to do if they want to catch these two Titans.
