The NFL trade deadline ended on Tuesday at 4:00 PM ET. Teams scrambled across the league in search of potential last-minute trade deals. There was not much activity in the market but there seems to be some left-over drama for the Atlanta Falcons involving defensive end, Takkarist ‘Tak’ McKinley.

The 2017 first-round draft pick (26th overall) has spent 3 years in Atlanta making 14 starts over the course of the 2019 season. However, as per his own claims, McKinley has been pushing for a trade move away from the Falcons since 2019.

Takk McKinley makes his spat with the Atlanta Falcons public

As per a post on his social media handle, Tak claims that he has been requesting a trade move for the last 2 years. The Falcons were getting a fifth and sixth-round pick in exchange for McKinley last week.

But they refused to let the player depart, prompting Tak to publically flame the Falcons. This move was later condemned by Head Coach Raheem Morris, who also called Tak ‘immature’ during a recent press meet.

“Takk will be held accountable…gotta deal with that as an organization and gotta hit it in the face…The wrong way to go about it how Takk is, to pout,” Morris said earlier today via NFL Network’s Michael Giardi.

In other news, the New England Patriots brought in WR Isaiah Ford from the Miami Dolphins. Meanwhile, the San Francisco 49ers traded Pro Bowler Kwon Alexander to New Orleans Saints for a conditional fifth-round pick and linebacker Kiko Alonso.

It will be interesting to see if Morris includes Takk McKinley in the team’s future matchday squads. Keeping all this in mind, it seems like this could be the end of McKinley’s career with the Atlanta Falcons.
