The Texas product will never forget the Thursday Night Football game. It was special. His wife, Meggi, called him up to inform him that she was in labor. “It was just scrambling making a decision of what to do,” Matthews said about the situation. “Hoping to catch a flight and that didn’t work out so forget it, we’ll jump in a car and let’s drive.”

Originally, the baby was to be born on Sunday. However, it looked like the child was too excited to meet his dad, who lovingly rushed to see him.

Jake only spent fifteen minutes with his child. Then the Falcons owner, Arthur Blake, arranged to pick him up and get him back to Charlotte. Fans congratulated the happy couple.

Jake Matthews and the team were left disappointed

The squad would have suffered significantly if Matthews had not returned to the game. Mainly because the offensive line, which was already suffering from injuries, took a significant hit as a result of the absence. Veteran backup Chuma Edoga would have replaced Matthews.

The Carolina Panthers showed strength under the guidance of the interim coach, Steve Wilks. The defensive line was dangerous and won the game by a score of 25-15.

The offense showed overreliance on the pass in the game. Also, Atlanta suffered greatly by not deploying Patterson early on. Eventually, the defensive line gave up. This allowed the rivals to gain a significant touchdown on a swing pass.
