There is no doubt that Aaron Rodgers is a ruthless quarterback among active players. The 37-year-old bagged two back-to-back season MVP awards in 2020 and 2021. He is on the road to equaling the legend Brett Favre’s record of winning three consecutive NFL MVP awards, considering he will win it in 2022. However, analyst Colin Cowherd snubbed him from the top 3 in his list of top 10 active QBs.

Modern young guns Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen get the top two spots. Colin remarks that Allen hasn’t played as many games as Mahomes, but he is bigger and more mobile than him. Further, he puts Aaron Rodgers at the 4th position in his list of top 10 QBs, suggesting that 44-year-old Brady is more agile. Cowherd mentions that Aaron’s not very good in crisis even though he is wildly gifted.

While ranking Tom Brady at no. 3 on his list, he establishes him to be as great as Peyton Manning. Moreover, Colin was all-praise for Patrick Mahomes but criticised the long-time QB Rodgers. He says that even though the 4x-time NFL MVP throws the most beautiful ball; he is not good at big games. Considering the Packers haven’t won a Super Bowl since the 2010 season, Colin justifies his statement.

Individually, Rodgers performed exceptionally well in the last two seasons. The league adjudged him as the season MVP after scoring 48 touchdowns in 2020 and 37 touchdowns in 2021. Further, the 37-year-old might have to face more trouble since the Packers traded his star WR to the Las Vegas Raiders.

Which other star QBs feature in Colin’s list, and what does the future look like for Aaron Rodgers?

Colin proceeds with his list by putting a Super Bowl-winning QB at no.5. He feels Russell Wilson will crush it this season. In addition, he ranks Matt Stafford from the Rams and Bengals’ QB Joe Burrow and Bengals at no. 6 and 7, respectively. Justin Herbert bags 8th position along with Kyler Murray at no. 9. The last QB on the analyst’s list is the Raiders‘ QB Derek Carr.

In the case of Rodgers, he finds himself in more trouble with his star WR, Davante Adams, gone. The Raiders traded for him in the off-season to build a more robust offensive lineup. But now, the Packers‘ QB will have a weaker offense considering the Packers do not have a number 1 WR.

While Colin’s list is not a concrete slate, Aaron Rodgers is rooting for himself to outperform his own game. The QB’s eyes are set on the third MVP title, making him only the second player in history to achieve it if he does so.
