“Doesn’t Match Up..”: Bill Belichick Urged to Replace Mac Jones With This Missing Piece of Patriots Puzzle

The New England Patriots are in a major slump after developing a brand-new playing habit. They are giving up winning leads to the ultimate moments of gigantic repercussions. And Bill Belichick could have had enough with quarterback Mac Jones. Especially when there is a possibly better option available in the form of Baker Mayfield.
Baker Mayfield has had a rough year that he somehow was able to end on a prolific note. After spending less than a year with the Carolina Panthers, and being put on the waivers, the Rams took a bet on him and it paid off heavily. Especially in the absence of first-string QB Matthew Stafford. And there are many NFL experts and insiders who think Bill Belichick could benefit from the Mayfield relationship.

“If they [Patriots] bring him [Baker] in, it’s an acknowledgement that the skill set that Mac has for us doesn’t match up. While we might love his mind and accuracy, he just doesn’t throw the ball hard enough,” Tom E Curran said on NBC Sports Boston’s Patriots coverage.

Baker Mayfield shook up the NFL world when he rescued the Los Angeles Rams with a last-minute comeback drive and the winning touchdown against the Raiders. And off-late he looks more dependable than Patriots QB Mac Jones. Jones does lead in passing yards this season and completion in attempted passes. However, he has also played 2 more games than Baker this season. And with only 10 games in his bag, Baker Mayfield has 10 touchdowns compared to Mac’s 9. Jones has also thrown 1 more interception and has more sacks than Baker.
The former Browns and Panthers QB had a rough week in the loss to the Packers. However, Baker bounced back with a dominating show in the 51-14 blowout of Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos. Super Bowl LVI Champions LA Rams don’t look like they are going to the playoffs this year with their 5-10 record. And with Stafford confirming that he will not retire next season, Mayfield has to make his choice for his future in the NFL. And Bill Belichick shouldn’t ideally have a problem trying him out.
