As the NFL season comes to its final leg, teams do not fail to surprise. December always calls for the best display of skills as teams make the final push to stay dancing in the postseason. In another December surprise, Baker Mayfield took center stage as he took over as lead play-maker for the LA Rams.

The Carolina Panthers recently released their third-string QB, Mayfield, after he requested the same. The former Heisman Trophy winner had a tough run with his new franchise. Battling through injury and bouts of poor form, he wasn’t the chosen one, as the Panthers had other talented QBs at their pedestal, too.

The former Panthers’ QB lived up to the trust coach McVay had in him. He stepped onto the turf and showed glimpses of the Heisman trophy-winning Baker Mayfield. He impressed everyone on his first outing as a Ram. After trailing for the majority of the game, Mayfield announced his arrival by throwing two touchdowns in the fourth quarter. By guiding the Rams to their first win after six straight losses, Mayfield was an immediate hero in the Rams’ camp.

The most remarkable part of the puzzle was his ability to get on with a playbook new to him in just two days’ time. Even Packers’ legendary QB, Aaron Rodgers praised Mayfield for this excellence. The Rams play the Packers next and Baker is in pole position for the starting role. Citing a neck injury for John Wolford, Mayfield will most probably take center stage on Monday night. The Rams are his third team in the league after having played with the Browns and Panthers.
