Baker Mayfield got traded to the Carolina Panthers earlier this June. Despite Sam Darnold’s presence, he is the favorite to start as a QB for the Panthers. However, there might be some shadow of a doubt since Darnold and Matt Corral are also fighting to be the starting QBs for the Panthers. Nevertheless, Mayfield’s first successful pro coach voiced his support for him.

The former Browns HC and offensive coordinator, Freddie Kitchens, feels things are looking up for Baker Mayfield. In addition, broadcaster and NFL analyst Skip Bayless is optimistic about Baker leading the Panthers. He said, “The biggest misconception about Baker Mayfield is that he is a poor leader. He’s a great leader and his passion just spills out. In pro football, he took a team that went 0-16 the year before as a raw rookie. Finally got a chance and all of a sudden he won seven games for a team that went 0-16.”

With this, he has added pressure to perform because if he doesn’t, one of the two QBs will replace him. Carolina’s Week 1 game is with the Browns, and Baker would try to draw first blood. However, a vengeful lion is more dangerous.
