Baltimore Ravens took to Twitter on Friday to mourn the loss of a valuable member of their community, officer Keona Holley. The former Ravens’ assistant nurse was taken off of life support one week after being shot in an ambush in Baltimore’s Curtis Bay neighborhood.

The 39-year-old officer in the Baltimore Police Department had the courage of a lion and a dedicated heart. She had served several years with Baltimore Ravens, “helping others as a nurse’s assistant.” Officer Holley was a valiant officer who died protecting the “community she dearly loved.”

Baltimore Ravens pays tribute to the martyred officer

“With deepest condolences and respect, we salute Keona Holley — a dedicated servant,” the Ravens said in a message posted Friday on the franchise’s Twitter account. “Officer Holley always felt it was her duty to assist those in need. During this tragic and difficult time we give full support to officer Holley’s family — especially her four children.”

The Ravens further paid tribute to the lost soul. She was a true leader. In spite of being a mother of four, she did not shy away from her duties to serve and protect the community. Although the whole country united to support her family, the Signal 13 Foundation specifically raised a total of $36,000 so far to support them.

The Ravens concluded the statement in a hopeful note, offering prayers to her loved ones and colleagues. “May she rest in peace, and may her positive impact and spirit forever resonate in our community,” the franchisee wrote.

Furthermore, Brandon Scott, the 52nd Mayor of Baltimore, offered his deepest condolences and prayers to the family and friends of the slain officer. It is a dark day for Baltimore as they have lost a true Officer and “devoted public servant.”

Keona shared a video on Facebook last Christmas where she handed out gifts to a family on the front porch. Unfortunately, we won’t see her doing that anymore.
