Baltimore Ravens are working towards potential Sammy Watkins acquisition

NFL insider Ian Rapoport was one of the first to report that Baltimore Ravens will give free-agent wide receiver Sammy Watkins a trial on Tuesday. The former Kansas City Chiefs man is expected to sign for the AFC North big boys in the coming days.

“He (Sammy Watkins) is flying to Baltimore today going to be with the Baltimore Ravens tomorrow on a free agent visit, which is interesting because of course, the Baltimore Ravens have been very much in the mix on potential wide receivers, specifically Juju Smith-Schuster, but some other ones as well.

“I know they took a hard look at and actually offered Juju a really nice deal before he decided to go back to Pittsburgh for less money.

“So now they are taking a look at Sammy Watkins and there is a reason that there is real and significant interest in Watkins from the Ravens…

“The unhealthy part is the part that obviously it’s been something that he has been working on. We’ll see if tomorrow they’re able to do a deal or if he is going to be traveling to other places,” Rapoport said on the show.

The 27-year-old has largely played third fiddle to Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill during his stay in Missouri. He could be enticed to work with up-and-coming quarterback Lamar Jackson.

In addition to that, the Ravens boast of one of the best-attacking stats in the league over the last 3 years. They will hope that a player like Watkins will help continue their push towards a return to Super Bowl glory.
