The 4th year safety along with the franchise has some decisions to make about his future or he might become a free agent.

Bates is an important player in the Bengals defense and someone they will look to resign and retain for upcoming seasons. The player is secretly hoping to avoid being franchise tagged and only getting $13.5 Million for his efforts last season.

On Wednesday, during his appearance on NFL Now, he states that many top players get that tag and are paid significantly less and need to be properly compensated. He believes it is a crucial moment and requires every player to cash in whenever such a scenario takes shape.

While talking about his contract renewal, he states, “I’m not too worried about the ego part of being the highest-paid safety, but I do know value over cost. That is something that not just myself but my agency, my team, that we’re going to continue to evaluate over the next couple weeks.”
