Withdrawal symptoms are a real thing and no one is feeling it more than the New England Patriots. Post losing out their legacy players, the Pats have just not been the same. It’s been two years since the end of the Tom Brady Bill Belichick era, and it seems like the legendary coach has struggled to find anyone close to Tom Brady to take over at the Gillette stadium.

Post the departure of offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, Belichick made a statement. He did not name any coordinators on his team, whether it was offensive or defensive. While this allows empowerment in the camp, it also means lack of clarity on who would call plays for second-year Mac Jones who has had very minimal experience as a professional football player.

Bill Belichick demands one voice in Pats camp

The Pats lost their recent game to the Bills. The New England team was limited to just 10 points as they lost 10-24. With questions being raised about their offensive management situation, Belichick seemed to be pretty unphased. He said, “I think we need to do what we’re doing better. I don’t think at this point making a lot of dramatic changes–it’s too hard to do that,” as he cited a lack of consistency. This was his main reason for their poor form.

He stays true to his belief of having one voice throughout the team. And doesn’t seem to want to bring about any change any time soon. However, this lack of structure for Jones could restrict the development of the 24-year-old quarterback.

The Pats have 5 games to go to end the regular season. They take on the Cardinals next as Mac Jones will look to cause some damage to the Arizona team’s defense. The next five games could be enough for him to win his head coach’s confidence as the Patriots continue their run without a designated play caller.
