Football is a funny game at times. Everything needs to be just right for a team to make a play, win a game, get their hands on a Super Bowl trophy. However, the opposite of that statement is also true. We saw a real-life example of this phenomenon during Thursday night’s game between Daniel Jones-led New York Giants and Ron Rivera’s Washington Football Team.
Both teams feature in the NFC East division. They entered this exciting primetime Week 2 fixture in search of their first win of the season. Ultimately, it was Taylor Heinicke and Washington that won the game with a 1-point margin.
But it could very well have been the other way round had lady luck favored Daniel Jones and the Giants.

Earlier in the game, visiting quarterback Daniel Jones thought he gave his team the lead as he ran for a 58-yard touchdown. Halfway through the 2nd quarter, at 2nd & 1, Jones pulled off a magnificent play that left WFT’s defense in shambles.
He made a slick run through the outer field before cutting in right before the endzone. However, on-field officials had already disrupted the play prior to his touchdown.

The play was called back due to a holding penalty. This meant that Daniel’s 58-year run was all for nothing.
Had the play been given a green light, it would have definitely handed the New York Giants an upper hand heading into the 2nd half. They ultimately lost out by a 1-point margin, as coach Rivera’s men sealed their first win of the season.
