Everybody is familiar with the management style of Jerry Jones. The billionaire owner of the Dallas Cowboys wants to control the decisions in every aspect of the game. It is the hallmark of a leader who wants to have it all. Similarly, analysts and insiders feel that Bill Belichick is acquiring the same traits and wants to be like Jerry Jones.

The analogy comes after the New England Patriots did not name an offensive and defensive coordinator for the upcoming season. Boston’s favorite Belichick is attempting to control the team from all fronts. More like becoming the Jerry Jones of coaching. But there is more analysis than plain conjecture.

FOX Sports analysts dissect multiple angles of why the Patriots’ HC is making the coaching style slightly different from his previous approach. When Tom Brady played for the Patriots, he had the liberty to make decisions that he felt were suitable for the team to win games. Unfortunately, it seems like that is not the case anymore.

LaVar Arrington, TJ Houshmandzadeh, and Plaxico Burress from FOX discuss the obstacles in the coaching style. The trio thinks Bill Belichick can’t function as the head coach, offensive as well as defensive coordinator, and they have their reasons.

Why is Bill Belichick turning into the Jerry Jones of coaching?

Speaking on FOX Sports radio, the analyst Burress said, “When I first heard about this, I said ‘well damn, Bill Belichick wants to make himself the Jerry Jones of head coaching.’ He wants to be the General Manager, the Owner, he wants to be that kind of coach. Tom Brady is no longer there. It’s turning into a dictatorship up there in New England.”

He added, “This is the reason why it won’t work – there’s no way, during the week, that Bill Belichick can be in both the offensive and defensive meetings at the same time. It’s plain and simple, you have to have an offensive coordinator and a defensive coordinator if you want to run an offense or defense. You can be the head coach, but you can’t do both at the same time.”

If this is the truth, the Patriots can have a hard time managing the bits and pieces of games. However, Belichick is experienced, and time will tell if his pursuit of handling it all can be successful or not.
