Mathieu tested positive for Covid on September 1, sabotaging Chiefs’ plans for a perfect start of the season. As their rivalry with the Browns produced an exciting and one of the most competitive matches in the 2020 divisional-round game. The season opens up with them playing against each other, so it’s just like a rematch to that game.

Mathieu made sure that he attended all the virtual meetings even though being listed in the Covid Reserve. He wanted to know how the Chiefs would approach Browns defensively and the involvement of the safety, in one of the most enticing starting matches of the season.

Mathieu had a tremendous 2020 season as he picked off 6 passes and registered 62 tackles. Which earned him a spot on the All-Pro team the second time and his third trip to the Pro Bowl. Hence, being the star safety of the Chiefs, his presence would hold the Browns from taking away unnecessary points.

The Arrowhead Stadium awaits for the season to start in just a day’s time. And with so little time left, it is doubtful whether Mathieu starts for the Chiefs or sits on the sidelines watching his mates go against the Browns.
