Former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores is calling foul on how recruitments happen in the NFL. Flores feels Patriots coach Bill Belichick accidentally revealed that he might have influenced the Giants hiring of Brian Daboll. The claims from Flores are quite serious against his mentor Belichick, who is in some hot water.

The non-hiring minority group coaches and tactics employed to bypass the NFL’s Rooney Rule are the main talking points. Among all the current head coaches, there remains only one head coach who is from a minority community. Flores was visibly unhappy during his appearance on the NPR’s ‘The Limits’ podcast and made his beliefs public.

I think (the Giants’ hiring process) is a clear example of that.” He believes that Belichick had a say in the matter and feels hard done by the sham recruitment process.

The concerning facts of the news report that Belichick dropped a series of texts to Flores. All those messages came before the scheduled interview between the New York Giants’ organization and coach Flores. The former Dolphins head coach has now filed a class-action discrimination lawsuit against the NFL. Flores also believes that franchise ownerships are not following the Rooney Rule that requires teams to interview a minimum of two external minority candidates before hiring for a permanent position.

There have been speculations that claim that his endorsement for Daboll is to move him out of AFC East to benefit the Patriots. But the franchise in question, the Giants, denies the occurrence of any such back-channel meetings.
