“Bring Him Back” – Aaron Rodgers Wants Clay Matthews Reunion at Green Bay

It’s no secret that Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers were involved in a very public standoff this offseason. The reigning Super Bowl MVP was reportedly set to leave Wisconsin this summer after yet another NFC Championship loss. However, Green Bay senior officials refused to let their star man depart.

They failed to agree on a contract extension with Rodgers as well. For now, it seems like A-Rod will stick with the Packers as we approach the start of the 2021 NFL season. However, he is adamant to surround himself with the right weapons as he aims for another shot at making the Super Bowl.

How does he achieve this? Well, for starters, he’s hoping to reunite with former Packers teammate and fan favourite – Clay Matthews.

After landing Randall Cobb this offseason, it looks like Green Bay fans may welcome another familiar face at Lambeau Field in 2021. Former linebacker, Clay Matthews, was part of the Packers’ side that won Super Bowl XLV. He might be on his way back to Wisconsin after spending 2020 as an undrafted free agent.

Matthews last played for Los Angeles Rams in 2019 but is without a franchise at present. As reported above, Green Bay stars Aaron Rodgers, David Bakhtiari and Randall Cobb have all gone public in their bid to reunite with Matthews ahead of the start of the 2021 NFL season.

His last game was in Week 5 of the 2015 season where he suffered a broken jaw in the Rams’ 30–29 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. Matthews later underwent surgery on the same but was released in the offseason.

He remains a free agent and someone that Aaron personally likes to have in the dressing room. It will be interesting to see how this one plays out. Watch this space for more.
