Buccaneers HC Bruce Arians Believes Tom Brady Will Stay With Franchise for 2022 Season

Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Bruce Arians did join the Buccaneers fans in confidence that QB Tom Brady will play. The 44-year-old QB just has a year remaining on his current contract with Tampa Bay following a stellar campaign. Brady did finish the 2021 season with 5,316 yards and 43 TDs, which shows maintaining him is not a bad deal.

The output of the legendary QB remains as dominant as it ever has been during his illustrious career. He, now, will be entering possibly his 15th NFC Championship game if they beat the Rams on Sunday. But the outing will not be as straightforward for Brady, who is down a few key weapons. Injuries to WR Chris Godwin and depletion of his offensive line have all left Brady with bare bones to work with.

Looking past what happens with their current season, the Buccaneers do have themselves in a sort of a pickle next season. The outcome of this season will have a significant bearing on how the Buccaneers line up in 2022.

The 7-time Super Bowl champion is arguably the greatest athlete to ever grace American sports. The QB still does remain in competition with younger QBs during Clyde Christensen’s quarterback challenge. Arians, while seeing his output during those workouts, does base his belief in Brady coming back for the 2022 season. The veteran QB has a young child-like enthusiasm to test his abilities every day and continues to love the game of football.

Arians were quoted saying, “The way he was at practice (Friday), I would be shocked if he didn’t (play next year).” The 70-year-old coach does show a willingness to be back in 2022 and hopes Brady will be with him. The Buccaneers have a lot of expiring contracts on their radar. And carrying all of them for a third consecutive season looks unlikely.

Brady does turn 45 in August 2022, and the Buccaneers need to look at a future beyond him. The concern and questions do arise as part of Brady and his plans of stepping away when he believes he isn’t good enough.
