The Baltimore Ravens and their star QB Lamar Jackson’s back-and-forth have reached new heights. The 26-year-old, former MVP, and his fans witnessed a masterstroke from the Ravens, as they placed a non-exclusive franchise tag on Jackson, allowing him to test free agency waters. Prior to the non-exclusive franchise tag, a number of teams appeared to be lining up for Lamar Jackson, but in a surprising turn of events, they all backed off. Amidst all the drama revolving around him, Jackson has continued to remain tight-lipped about the situation, leaving the NFL Insiders to do most of the talking. However, this time he opened up.

While many of these insiders concluded that most teams would not be making an offer for Jackson, one went on to make an otherwise outrageous claim. The claim perfectly aligned with Lamar’s interests, and maybe that is exactly what motivated him in breaking his silence.

Lamar Jackson went on to demand a deal in line with what Deshaun Watson signed with the Browns. Watson’s deal entailed a five-year $230 million contract, all fully guaranteed, and Jackson felt he deserved the same. Amidst all of the reports came one that stated Lamar turned down an excellent deal back in September.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter revealed on ‘The Adam Schefter Podcast’, “Chris Mortensen and I reported on this last September when Lamar Jackson was offered a deal that he turned down. A deal that included at the time he was offered $133 million due at signing. The contract also had injury guarantees that brought the guarantees to $175 million and it then had a springing guarantee that could’ve brought the value for the contract, the guaranteed money of the contract to $200 million in guarantees… and yes, those were the actual numbers and that was the situation. So those really were the guarantees for Lamar Jackson.”

With Lamar Jackson calling out Adam Schefter, fans also had a green light to do the same. One user went out to speak in favor of Jackson, “The national media loves to slander you for no reason“.

While another questioned Lamar’s response, “This is literally what Schefter reported so how is that cap? 133 fully, 200 total by 2026. Where is the cap Lamar?
