New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton endured a torrid spell in his ‘comeback’ season last year. But despite a mixed bag of results in 2020, the Patriot re-signed Newton to an extension in the offseason. That did not stop owner Robert Kraft and his coaches from drafting rookie QB Mac Jones in the 1st round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

As reported above, Newton’s preseason has been dealt a teeny-tiny blow. He will be practicing virtually from home until he’s given the green light to return to Foxborough and rejoin coach Belichick’s offence.

In the meantime, rookie Mac Jones will get to work with first-team regulars as he continues to grasp the Patriots’ playbook. New England play their final preseason game against the New York Giants at the end of August.
