A while ago in late March, Fitterer had disclosed the positive possibilities of re-signing Newton in his team. But, recently on Wednesday’s edition of Pro Football Talk with Mike Florio, he again indicated the return of the 33 Years old ‘Super Cam’.

The Return of Super Cam

On the show, Fitterer said – “We have to see how this works out here throughout the spring. I just happened to be up at the [Kentucky] Derby last weekend and Cam was up there. We’re texting a little bit. The lines of communication are open. I know Coach Rhule has spoken with him. We are going to have a discussion at some point but we’re just not quite there yet, but we’ll see how it goes. The more competition we have at that position the better.”

Cam Newton had a rough last season with the Panthers

After completing his tenure at New England Patriots, the Panthers signed a 1-year contract with Cam Newton in 2021. Cam had a promising start but his performance graph declined in the next five matches. Further, Sam Darnold returned to the field after his shoulder injury and led the offense in the next 2 final games.

Panthers GM Scott Fitterer further stated – “The one thing I learned about him is how unselfish he is and what a team guy he is. I had this perception from the outside coming in here who I thought he was. He was one of the hardest workers on our team. He’s a leader.” Newton on the other hand had expressed his desire to play for Carolina Panthers in his season-ending press conference. Although, he will always prefer the position which leads him to win.
