Now, teams seem to be distancing themselves from those who make incendiary remarks. Carolina Panthers have made a loud and clear statement in this regard.

As per the official Panthers Twitter handle, “Last Saturday, we said we are committed to doing our part and we mean it. CPI Security has been a long term partner but, upon reflection, we feel that it is right to end our relationship. We have informed Mr. Gill of our decision tonight.”

CP Security CEO Kenneth Gill hit headlines for an email procured by WCNC Charlotte. It said, “a better use of my time would be to focus on the black-on-black crime and senseless killing of our young men by other young men.

Hours before the Panthers announced their decision, Gill tweeted out an apology via the CPI Security Twitter account. He wrote, “I want to apologize for my response to an email from a former employee that failed to directly address the need for racial justice and equality in the wake of George Floyd’s senseless killing.”

Kenneth Gill acknowledged the feedback and said he realized the need for dialogue to end racism. He added that he remains “committed to being part of the solution.”

Unfortunately, the Panthers weren’t convinced which seemed to render Gill’s efforts as too little too late. The NFL side is certainly firm on their stance and in this regard, they have made a telling move.
