Week 7 has already started bringing in more opportunities for players, like Cleveland Browns backup QB Case Keenum. Baker Mayfield was warming the bench after sustaining a shoulder injury during his week 6 loss against the undefeated Arizona Cardinals. In stepped one of the best journeymen in the NFL.

It was time for Case to shine, which he successfully did after sealing a much-needed win against Denver Broncos. His composed and confident spell led the Browns to a 17-14 victory, resulting in a 4-3 stance in the league.

Case Keenum helped Cleveland Browns seal a W

“Case fought like he always does,” said Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski. “I thought he orchestrated the operation. He took care of the football and that was a huge play in the end zone there on fourth down. Just to make a play, fighting for extra yardage, but he did a great job fighting.”

Keenum made sure that his presence was well accounted for, as he wanted to prove that his worth in the league exceeds that of being just a backup. His fourth-down scramble in the third quarter of the game proved just that.

Keenum feels confident

Keenum was very grateful to the defense for containing the Broncos and limiting them to just 14 points in the game. “Defense played really, really well,” Keenum said. “To hold those guys to what they did in some pretty clutch moments was big.”

Keenum feels confident in his approach, and that is a sign of a quality player. “I felt calm and poised,” Keenum said. “It was a great first drive there. Kevin put together a great first 15 and the offensive line did a great job.”
