Civil Rights Activist Who Called Out Jerry Jones for Being Silent Wanted Colin Kaepernick to be Nominated for The Nobel Peace Prize

Colin Kaepernick became the torchbearer of protests against social and racial injustices; after his protest against the national anthem. Moreover, the QBs decision to take the knee, led to sparking an ignition in many players in the NFL. Consequently, sociologist and civil rights activist Dr Harry Edwards believes Colin deserves a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize.

In regard to this, the UC Berkeley professor emeritus said, “He has come out and stated that; that is something that he would see as they did the desirable turn of events. As far as my own conception of Kap at this point, I think that he should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.”

Referring to what Kaepernick is doing in the NFL; Dr Edwards reiterated he has definitely set a few things in motion. Speaking to ESPN, he remarked, “Kaepernick should be at least nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize; given what he has incited, not just in this country in terms of social justice and so forth.”

Six years ago, Colin Kaepernick sat down during the national anthem; therefore, stunning all the observers.  In a conversation with the NFL media, he stated, “I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”

In what looked like a short-lived protest; it spurred into a worldwide demonstration of inculcating protest against social injustices. Following this act, numerous sports witnessed kneeling down before their games. Moreover, the NFL later issued a statement saying that players are encouraged; but not required to stand during the playing of the national anthem.

Although Colin sparked a massive controversy surrounding his display against the national anthem; Dr Harry Edwards feels otherwise. His feelings of nominating the 49ers QB for a Nobel Peace Prize were received with mixed reactions. Moreover, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell apologised for the way he handled peaceful protests in the league as well.
