Now the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback is eyeing an NFL return, and he looks very determined about it. Apart from the gridiron, the athlete has a special endeavor in the works, and he is ready to showcase it to the world.

As teams scout quarterbacks in the offseason, Kaepernick has already been putting together workout sessions all across the country. The athlete once sparked a worldwide debate over his disputed stance before an NFL game. But he has kept his second endeavor, writing a kid’s book since the past year.

The former NFL quarterback is now making the next big step as an author with his children’s book called I Color Myself Different. Kaepernick’s Publishing company will publish the picture book in collaboration with Scholastic as part of a multi-book agreement. Eric Wilkerson has created the illustrations, and the book will release on 4th April 2022.

He mentions in a tweet, My children’s book, [I Color Myself Different], has been 18 mo. in the making & so it’s amazing to finally hold a real copy in my hands! It’s a story about identity, adoption, & the power of self-love.

The plotline behind “I Color Myself Different” is based on a critical juncture in Kaepernick’s early life; He started drawing his adopted white family in yellow color and then drew himself brown during a kindergarten drawing activity. This was the first time he accepted their differences in looks. The slight gesture gave him the confidence to celebrate them.

Kaepernick has wide prospects

While not in the NFL, Kaepernick had already kept himself busy with a multitude of industries. In 2018, he has been the face of a famous Nike advertising campaign. He has launched several ventures, including a publishing house in 2020, where he aims to publish a memoir. Moreover, in 2021, he released “Colin in Black & White,” a Netflix documentary series based on his life that he co-created with director Ava DuVernay.

Coach Pete Carroll of the Seattle Seahawks believes Kaepernick deserves another chance in the league. In 2017, the Seattle Seahawks were the first team to host a training session for him. Even the athlete spoke with the Seahawks’ front, expressing hope to get a further chance to play quarterback in the NFL.

While the talks may not have been progressed, the former NFL quarterback-turned-activist has been active in his other ventures, keeping himself engaged. The QB market has taken a major shift and according to Colin’s trainer, David Robinson, a few teams have sighted interest in the athlete. Former 49ers QB may have a major return in the works, he continues to keep his diverse ventures operative in the future.
