Tom Brady has had an upset record against his childhood favorites, the San Francisco 49ers. In his stint with the New England Patriots, Brady could only secure 1 win out of 3 games. The most painful loss was the 2012 game where the 49ers beat the Patriots 41-34. Colin Kaepernick’s team shattered Brady’s dream of beating the Niners in the shootout.

In the 2012 game, Brady threw 65 passes, recording a career-high, completing 36 of these attempts for 443 yards, two interceptions, and one touchdown. Brady’s 443 passing yards were his sixth-best mark of all time. However, Colin outperformed him in the game to secure a historic win.
Colin Kaepernick threw 25 passes but still won against Tom Brady
In the game, Colin Kaepernick threw only 25 passes in contrast to Tom Brady’s career-high record of 65. However, he completed 14 of those passes with a completion percentage of 56%. He completed 225 yards, an interception, and most importantly, four touchdowns in contrast to the Patriots‘ QB’s one.

This historic win led the 49ers to 10-3-1 on the season, further, pushing them to, fortunately, enter the playoff run. Consequently, they reached the Super Bowl that season, however, lost to the Baltimore Ravens.

Even though Tom Brady suffered this loss, his spirit didn’t wary when he played the next season. The GOAT’s gameplay led him to become one of the most celebrated NFL players in the history of the game. As Brady comes out of his retirement, he would have high hopes to outperform himself.

Brady and his childhood favorites, the 49ers
Tom Brady has frequently expressed his admiration for the 49ers as a child. Growing up in the bay area, he followed their games religiously. After his contract expiration at the Patriots, he expressed his desire to join the 49ers as well. However, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers came up with a better deal to fetch him and he led them to their Super Bowl LV win.
