Recently, a docu-series was made about the QB and premiered on Netflix. It was about Kaepernick’s teenage with his adoptive family and how his experiences shaped his views regarding many issues. The biopic received great attention from fans and a larger audience. It has recently been nominated for a prestigious award.

What award is the 49ers QB’s biopic about to receive?

The docuseries, titled ‘Colin in Black & White’, showed how Kaepernick’s views on subjects of his future activism started forming in his experiences as a teenager. Jaden Michael played the titular role of a young Kaepernick. Mary-Louise Parker as Teresa Kaepernick and Nick Offerman as Rick Kaepernick played the roles of Colin’s adoptive parents.

It received mostly favorable reviews from critics on various websites. It led to a nomination for the prestigious Peabody Award. Now the cast and crew of the series are in line for another award, as the 6th Annual Black Reel TV award has nominated them in multiple categories.

Jaden Michael, writer Michael Starrbury and director Ava DuVernay have all received nominations for their respective categories, while the award organizers have also nominated the series under the category ‘Outstanding TV movie or Limited series’. In order to celebrate this milestone, Kaepernick’s organization Know Your Rights Camp tweeted its congratulations to the cast.

Kaepernick played his last match in the NFL in 2016, after which he became a free agent. In May 2022, he had his first workout with an NFL team when the Raiders organized one for the QB. Apart from this; he has been mostly advocating his views and initiatives in communities and has even been part of a deal for a children’s book.
