Finally, after months of back and forth, Aaron Rodgers is officially a New York Jet. While acquiring Rodgers came with its own set of challenges, the Jets‘ front office has done a marvelous job assembling a team worthy of Aaron Rodgers, and a ton of the credit goes to their owner.
Prior to finalizing the Rodgers deal, Jets’ owner Woody Johnson visited the former MVP in California, and even though the details of those conversations are not known, Johnson has been able to get the job done. While many would expect the Jets’ fanbase to applaud Johnson and his efforts, there are still some lingering haters as fans chose to fire shots at Johnson on social media.

Fans are unhappy with Woody Johnson

“Now did they ask me about certain guys that I played with, of course, did I talk glowingly about teammates that I love, yeah? Why wouldn’t you?” said Rodgers during his appearance on the Pat McAfee show.
Turns out one of the teammates Rodgers boasted about was the wide receiver, Randall Cobb. With Rodgers landing in New York, Cobb has also followed his leader. Jets’ owner Woody Johnson recently took to Instagram to share an interaction he had with Cobb, and fans couldn’t look past the awkwardness.

One fan commented, “Seems awkward lol”
While another felt that Johnson was giving off a different vibe, “Cringe Johnson”
One particular fan felt concerned at the Jets signing Rodgers friends, “Next we’re gonna sign Pat McAfee to be our punter…I’m thinkin’ how ‘bout we save our $ for an O Lineman or 2???”
One ingenious fan felt the conversation mirrored a real-life situation, “When your meeting your girlfriends family for the first time at a house party.”
The barrage of comments continued as another fan added, “Woody smh…so awkward”
While fans seemed particularly annoyed with Woody Johnson, the reasoning behind it could not be pinpointed. But then again, maybe Johnson’s past has something to do with it.

Woody Johnson has never been a man of the people
Just a year back, Johnson was serving as President Donald Trump’s ambassador to the United Kingdom, and his remarks made the State Department take notice. Woody Johnson was investigated for allegedly making some ‘racist and sexist’ comments. A diplomat aware of these comments told CNN’s Jennifer Hansler, Kylie Atwood, and Nicole Gaouette, that the comments were ‘cringeworthy‘ and objectified women of color.
A similar situation happened in 2018 when Woody Johnson asked if the audience would be “a bunch of Black people” prior to an event celebrating Black History Month.
On another occasion, Johnson appeared offended to have been invited to an International Women’s Day gathering, and raised the question of why he had to partake in “a feminist event.”
