Former NFL Running Back Peyton Hillis turned out to be a guardian angel last week after saving his kids from drowning in the ocean. In this rescue mission, he damaged his internal organs and eventually got admitted into the intensive care unit. NFL stars and eminent sports personalities like Robert Griffin III extended their support and prayers for the veteran.

For the past couple of days, Hillis had been under the close scrutiny of fans. Initially, his health deteriorated, and was breathing with the help of a ventilator. But as per the latest updates, his condition has improved, and the veteran is out of danger. Griffin couldn’t stop praying for his former counterpart and asked the fans to join him.

The former quarterback explicitly mentioned the kids and praised the attempt Hillis made to rescue the children. “Peyton Hillis is a dang Super Hero. He saved his kids from drowning in the ocean while putting his own life in danger for the sake of his family.”

“Glad to hear he is on the road to recovery after being in critical condition”, he wrote on Twitter. This update was initially disclosed by his girlfriend Angela Cole, via Instagram sharing some of their old photographs.

“A hero. So proud of this man and so incredibly grateful for his family and this incredible hospital. Peyton is off the ventilator and is on the road to recovery. Please continue to pray for him, he’s still got a way ahead of him, but thank you for all your prayers and love and support thus far”, she captioned the images.

The incident happened on Jan 4 at Pensacola beach, where he jumped into the ocean without a second thought. Although his rescue mission succeeded, Hillis incurred several internal injuries. He was instantly airlifted to the hospital, and further treatments were carried out.

Interestingly, the veteran shares these two children with his ex-wife Amanda whom he divorced in 2020. Soon he got into a relationship with singer and actress Angela Cole. After she disclosed the good news on social media, fans flooded the chat section with prayers for the star.

Meanwhile, Hillis happens to be a multi-talented sportsperson who had an exceptional NFL career. After getting drafted by the Broncos, the Running Back rendered his services in Kansas City, Cleveland, and New York.
