Dolphins lost their opening preseason game in embarrassing fashion to the Falcons. But the misery doesn’t end there for the Dolphins, as they have endured their second preseason loss along with an injury scare to undrafted WR Daewood Davis.

While taking on the Jaguars in the preseason finale of the 2023 precursor to the NFL, the Dolphins face a grim state of affairs. This comes just moments after it was reported that an injury scare had put one of the young NFL rookies into the hospital.

Daewood Davis incident reminds the scary side of football

The preseason game between the Dolphins and the Jaguars was heading to a resounding loss for the Dolphins when they entered the 4th quarter. When Daewood Davis received a pass from fellow teammate James Blackmon and was hit as he received the ball. The impact left him motionless on the pitch with the players and the staff intervening in the match.

As the undrafted WR Davis lay motionless on the ground, the staff and the stewards decided to call off the rest of the match as a precaution. Following the incident, the playing staff and the coaches gathered at the center of the gridiron as they hoped for Davis to be okay. Davis would eventually be stretchered off the field to provide him medical attention. He would be rushed to the Baptist hospital where he’d regain consciousness to the relief of his team and fellow players.

The update from the Dolphins’ would be a welcome update as the fans navigate the injury scare. This incident would bring back sharp memories of a similar incident that happened in week 2 of the preseason.

Injury scare repeats Packers vs. Patriots match fate

The Davis incident was not the first time a preseason match had been called off this year. Back in week 2 of the 2023 preseason, the Patriots took on the Packers as they prepared for the upcoming season. Unfortunately, the match would be cut short following an injury to Isaiah Bolden. The rookie CB was stretchered off early in the 4th Quarter which ultimately ended the match in the Patriots’ favor.

Bolden would eventually be discharged from medical attention after being evaluated at the Aurora Bay Medical Center. This will put many teams on vigilance as they hope to avoid injury scares following the preseason matches being cut short.

As Davis continues to recover from a horror incident, fans will hope for a speedy recovery for the young man. While many teams will be on alert and hope their players can avoid such dire circumstances.
