No, it’s not a serious injury to a crucial player. It’s a literal cost. A fine. The Cowboys tight end department found themselves with a $30,000 penalty for their whack-a-mole celebration in the Salvation Army bucket after Peyton Hendershot’s game-winning touchdown for Dallas against the Giants. However, their QB Dak Prescott has taken over the matter and extended his help to his tight ends.

The NFL fined four Cowboys tight ends after the Salvation Army bucket celebration. Dalton Schultz’s fine of $13,261 was the highest among the four. Jake Ferguson ($4,895), Peyton Hendershot ($3,944), and Sean McKeon ($4,994) also shared the brunt of the league’s penalty. However, it has come out since that the celebration was QB Dak Prescott’s brainchild. And Dak has agreed to take on the financial responsibilities associated.

Why is Dak Prescott paying a fine for a charitable celebration?
Dak Prescott had given the green light for the Salvation Army bucket celebration if the Dallas Cowboys had a big enough lead late in the fourth quarter. And Dak didn’t think it would be a big issue. The Salvation Army bucket celebrations generate a lot of donations from fans towards the Salvation Army. And Cowboys owner Jerry Jones thinks the display at the stadiums is important so that people take notice and contribute to the cause.

Every time there is a Salvation Army bucket celebration, there is a huge spike in donations and this benefits a lot of people. That’s why the NFL world was a little surprised by the league’s unnecessary strictness. Ezekiel Elliott was the first one to do the Salvation Army bucket celebration in 2016. However, Elliott received a league-imposed $13,000 fine when he did it again in 2018. And this time it’s Dak and Co paying up to the league and Prescott said that the entire team will split the fines.
