Dallas Cowboys have been arguably quiet before the trading period began on March 15. But they have finally made a move. And it is a big one. The Cowboys are acquiring five-time Pro Bowl cornerback Stephon Gilmore from Indianapolis Colts. Gilmore has been traded for a fifth-round 2023 pick by the Colts, which practically means the Cowboys did not give up a lot to acquire the 2019 Defensive player of the year. And there is no one who is happier than long-time Cowboys fan and sports columnist Skip Bayless.

Now, after the signing of Stephon Gilmore, it gives CB Trevon Diggs some breathing space in defensive playmaking for the team. With the team recently releasing RB Ezekiel Elliott, this move will be one that shapes up their roster for the 2023 season.

According to Tom Pelissero, the Cowboys have to give up a 2023 fifth-round compensatory pick to the Colts for 32-year-old Gilmore. The CB still has a year left in his contract with a $7.9 million base. All in all, this was not a bad move by the Cowboys for their first trade before the upcoming NFL season.

While the rumors of the Cowboys eyeing the likes of Odell Beckham Jr. are in the mix, this move seems to be more of a strategically viable option for the team. They already have a star CB on one side of the field in the form of Trevon Diggs. Now the team will have two talented cornerbacks paired with each other on the field.

Skip criticized Jerry Jones for years

Skip Bayless has been an ardent critic of Jerry Jones over the years. He has been a Cowboys fan since his childhood and has often criticized Jones for the decisions he makes for the team. He said, “The bigger picture here, the big point is that Jerry actually got up and did something when they never do anything”. It seemed like a take on the fact that Jones mostly talks about things rather than taking concrete decisions about them.
