They feel as though they have found another young stud who can lead them. In a dark season for the Cowboys, Gallup’s latest performances have been a small but bright light.

One man who has taken notice of Gallup’s excellent performances is his own Head Coach – Mike McCarthy. McCarthy spoke to the press after the Cowboys’ victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

He credited Gallup’s performance and even the team for creating more opportunities. McCarthy also praised Gallup and other shining players CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper for their effort in the victory.

He said, “Well, just take the quick screen and turn it into a huge play and the ability to go over the top. Just the more and more opportunities we can get Michael.

“He always produces, and really the whole perimeter it is just a matter of trying to get those guys more and more opportunities, more targets. Michael was huge for us today, I felt Michael, CeeDee, and Omari all played very well.”

Michael Gallup – Breakout Cowboy

Michael Gallup went to the Cowboys in 2018, as the 81st pick in the NFL Draft. Since joining the Cowboys, Gallup struggled to stand out, primarily due to the poor form of the Cowboys during his early years.

His rookie year did not have many highlights other than him getting onto the end of a 49-yard pass from Cowboys’ star quarterback Dak Prescott in a loss to the Washington Football Team.

He would convert that into his first-ever NFL touchdown. Prescott garnered all the plaudits for the most part, while Gallup flew under the radar with his reliable performances.

But this season is different. Since Prescott got injured in the early part of the season, the Cowboys have been looking for other players in the offensive unit to step up. And Gallup did just that.

Perhaps Gallup can build on this late-season momentum over the course of the new season. While this season did not end well for the Cowboys, there is cause for optimism for America’s Team next year because of Gallup, and their young core.
